Orla Ross

Orla Anthony Ross 87, A longtime resident of Littleton, Colorado, passed away Tuesday December 7th in Littleton after a short illness.

He was born April 30, 1934, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The son of John L. Ross and Margaret R. Ross. He grew up in Pittsburgh and attended Milton Hershey School in Hershey, Pennsylvania, where he graduated with a diploma, with a vocational specialty in auto mechanics. He worked as a car mechanic in Pittsburgh. He also served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1962. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Amarillo, Texas and Lowery Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado.

Orla met his Wife Beverly in Denver. They were married in October 1956. Orla not only lived in Littleton, Colorado, he, and his family lived in Des Moines, Iowa as well as Martinez, California before moving back to Littleton. After getting out of the United States Air Force, Orla started his Telecommunications career with AT&T. He moved to Des Moines, Iowa and worked at Dial Finance. He then moved to the San Francisco Bay area and worked at Kaiser Aluminum. After moving back to Littleton, he worked at US West and retired from CenturyLink. He was a Communications Worker of America retiree. He also volunteered and worked at Littleton Adventist Hospital. He worked as a tax preparer for about 30 years with H&R Block and his A-1 Tax Service.

Orla enjoyed many hobbies like Bowling, Golf, Chess, Solitaire and Sudoku. Orla is preceded in death by his parents and older sister Marion. Orla is survived by his son William E. “Bud” Ross and his brother Arthur and Sister Audrey and Sister-in-law Erma, as well as a niece and two nephews. He also has family in North Philadelphia, Ohio.
