Alumni Award Recipients
Zainabu Sesay-Harrell '95 - Career Accomplishment
Zainabu has 32 years of health care experience, with experience as an R.N./advanced practice nurse in international and global health, medicine, surgery, and critical care. She also has served as a nurse educator and drugstore/pharmacy executive and owner, organizational education coordinator, and environmental advocate for chronic illnesses. Zainabu is a professional consultant for The Republic of Sierra Leone, West Africa, and founder of Connectin the Dotz. She is also a member of many professional organizations, including but not limited to Sigma Theta Tau International nursing honor society, the National Black Nurses Association, and Sierra Leone Nurses Association, Inc.
Joshua Arledge '15 - Academic Excellence
Joshua is a teacher of the deaf and an American Sign Language instructor. During his undergraduate education at Gallaudet University, the only university in the world for deaf students, he participated in several international exchange programs and earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a specialization in deaf education and a minor in Spanish. Joshua has taught many students over the years, but currently teaches American Sign Language 101 at Cochise College. In addition, he works as a contractor providing virtual services to deaf and hard-of-hearing students in underserved communities across the country.
Todd Leiss '82 - Community Service
Todd is the founder of TIM Heroes, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission to provide outreach material, resources, and training related to traffic incident management (TIM) to the public, schools, motorists, and emergency responders. Todd recently joined Jacobs Engineering as a traffic incident management specialist after retiring from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commision in 2023. He also serves as the Deputy Director of Training at the Emergency Responder Safety Institute. Through the years, Todd has received numerous awards for his work in traffic incident management and public safety communication.
Senior Award Recipients
Jedrek Kumi - Career Accomplishment
Jedrek enrolled at MHS as a 10th grade student and since has been an active member in a variety of extracurricular programs. Jedrek demonstrates both leadership and scholarship through his participation in the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. In the fall, he plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania to study public health, followed by a pre-law track, with the goal of becoming a lawyer in the health-care field.
Ashley Spence - Academic Excellence
Ashley enrolled at MHS as a fifth grade student and since has flourished by demonstrating academic achievements, leadership qualities, and efforts to serve our school community. Ashley has been highly active in a variety of MHS programs including athletics, the National Art Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta math honor group. She is also the president of the National Honor Society at the school. In the fall, Ashley plans to begin to earn a degree in biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania.
Christopher Koehler - Community Service
Chris enrolled at MHS in eighth grade and since has demonstrated leadership in the MHS community and upholds high academic standards. Chris is a member of the SGA Executive Branch, Hershey Community Youth Alliance, National Honor Society, and is a member of Mu Alpha Theta math honor group. Chris will be attending the University of Chicago in the fall to earn a degree in journalism and public policy.
