Alumni Achievement Award: Academic Excellence

Lydia Lausch – Academic Excellence, Class of 2021

In selecting Lydia Lausch to receive this award. Senior Division administrators noted she maintains a high level of academic achievement, while also participating in a variety of activities and programs. Beyond academics, she has assisted at Hershey Community Gardens, helped revitalize rooms at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church, and volunteered cleaning public roadways. Since January, she has been an intern with the MHS Department of School History at Kinderhaus. She also serves as a member of the school’s Cultural Advisory Committee and the Hershey Project Pathways Committee.

A participant in the MHS String Ensemble, marching band, and indoor winds, she participated as a member in the Pennsylvania Music Educator Association’s District Orchestra from 2015 to 2020. From 2019 to 2020, she participated as a member of the Pennsylvania Music Educator Association’s Regional Orchestra. In 2019 and 2020, she placed first in the Hershey Local Rotary Speech Contest. Earlier this year, she was selected as a Rotary Student of the Month, and inducted as a member of National Honor Society.

After graduating from MHS, Lydia plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in history to become a history teacher. She hopes to attend University of Pennsylvania, but has not yet made final plans.

Lydia is originally from Reading and now resides in Lebanon. She enrolled at MHS in eighth grade.
