Michael D. Copenheaver

Michael D. Copenheaver ’68, 73, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023 at his home.

Michael D. Copenheaver, 73, entered into rest Friday February 24, 2023 at his home. A visitation will be 3-4 p.m. Saturday March 11, 2023 at John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. 2114 West Market Street. The memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Bishop Barry Yingling officiating. Private burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a later date. Full military rites will be presented by the York County Veteran Honor Guard, at the funeral home, prior to the memorial service.

Mr. Copenheaver was born May 4, 1949 in York, a son of the late Robert H. Copenheaver and Dorothy V. (Bates) Copenheaver Godfrey. He was the son of Robert Godfrey, Sr. He was a graduate of Milton Hershey School. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was an avid golfer. He was a life member of VFW post 8951 West York and Shiloh American Legion Post 791.

Michael is survived by a daughter Kathleen Copenheaver; a grandson Parker John Copenheaver; brothers and sister Blaine R. Copenheaver and his wife Connie, Larry R. Copenheaver and his wife Carolyn, Kathy Newcomer, Robert E. Godfrey, Jr.; nieces, nephews, and loving extended family. He was preceded in death by a son Michael D. Copenheaver, Jr., a brother Jeffrey Godfrey, and a sister Carol Mummert. Memorial contributions may be made to PA Wounded Warriors.
