Marlin Goodyear
Marlin R. “Goody” Goodyear, 93, of Lower Allen Township, Pennsylvania, and from 1966 to 2002 of Ventura, California, died at home on Thursday, May 5, 2022. Goody was born July 21, 1928 at 111 North Market Street in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Willis Arthur “Shorty” Goodyear and Ada Hess Goodyear.
Goody is survived by his wife, Lany Ningsih Goodyear, who was born in Jakarta, Indonesia. Also surviving are a son, Steven R. Goodyear and his wife Noella, of Modesto, California; two stepdaughters, two step-granddaughters, two grandsons, a step-grandson, two great-granddaughters, and two great-grandsons.
Goody was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Joyce Foltz Goodyear. She passed away in 1998 in Ventura, California. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Goodyear Blough, three sisters Florence Stahle, Pearl Barnhill, and Charlotte Culp, and by a step-grandson Nathan Leung.
Goody graduated from the Hershey Industrial School in Hershey, Pennsylvania, having attended the school from November 1937 thru June of 1946. He was very fortunate to have attended the school, living on a dairy farm, working hard, playing hard and learning a trade. After graduation, he enlisted and served aboard the USS Noa, DD-841 destroyer as an Electronics Technician Mate. His civil service career ended when he retired from The Naval Ship Missile Systems Engineering Station in Port Hueneme, California.
