James R. Via

James R. Via, 81, of Pequea, formerly of Leola, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Russel and Beulah Mae Garrison Via. He was the loving husband of Joyce Hoffer Via who died in 2007.

Mr. Via was a union electrician on various projects ranging from the Alaskan pipeline to Area 51. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959. He enjoyed coaching midget football, and he took great pride in his sons, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He will be lovingly missed by his three sons: Rick married to Tammy MacKenzie Via, Middletown, James married to Gail Bromhead Via, Millersville, Robert J. Via, Pequea; five grandchildren, Chrissy (Carlos), Michael, Brian (Cristina), Richard, Katelyn (Steve) Zielinski; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Lee married to Betty Via, Richard Via. A sister, Patty, and brothers, John and Jake preceded him in death.

Memorial Services: Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Ascension Lutheran Church, 600 Penn Grant Rd., Willow Street, PA. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Furman’s – Leola
