Alumni Reconnect at NYC Event
Alumni from the Classes of 1973 to 2017 reconnected with each other and Milton Hershey School staff at an alumni reception in New York City on Friday, May 3. In addition to hearing updates about MHS from MHS President Pete Gurt ’85, and meeting current students, Jesse Lin and Michael Shorlo from the school’s Student Government Association, the alumni learned about the opportunity to form a Spartan Social Club. MHS Alumni Association President Jeff Sypolt ’77 presented a social club charter to the 2018 Alumna of the Year, Wendy MacClinchy ’92, who volunteered to be the club coordinator.
Spartan Social Clubs are similar to MHSAA chapters but are located in areas of the country where the alumni concentration is small and are less formal. Graduates who attended recent alumni events in Las Vegas, San Francisco, Long Beach, and now New York City, have committed to forming social clubs to stay connected to local Spartans, MHSAA, and the school.
