William R. Wardle
William R. Wardle, 67, of Monessen, died Monday, July 25, 2011, in his home after a lengthy illness. Born Jan. 7, 1944, in New Eagle, he was the son of the late John and Bessie (Snodgrass) Wardle.
Bill worked as a coal miner, which he loved in his early years. He then began working as a truck driver and later retired as a dispatcher from Green Tree Transport, of Pittsburgh. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Monongahela.
His favorite hobby was riding a motorcycle double-up and going on bike trips with his family. He enjoyed woodworking and creating stained glass.
Surviving are his wife Sharon (Wiley) Wardle, with whom he married Dec. 23, 1972; two daughters, Master Sgt. Beth L. Poole and fiance Carl T. Watson, of Huntington, MD; and Amy L. Wardle-Monosky, of Monessen, wife of beloved son-in-law Michael J. Monosky; a brother, Thomas Wardle and wife Marlene, of Monongahela; beloved grandchild, Erik Chronister; nephews, Jim Wiley, of Donora, and Jesse Wiley, of Monongahela, who was like a grandson who shared Bill’s love for NASCAR racing; and Donna Wiley, mother-in-law, of Monongahela, who thought of Bill as her son. Also surviving is Misty Wiley, sister-in-law, who always referred to Bill as Uncle Bill; and nieces, Jennifer Bergman, Melissa Terrant and their children. Preceding him in death was a brother, Kenneth Wardle.
At Bill’s request, services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
