Thomas David Jones, fondly known as FLEA JONES, of Dillsburg, passed away at the age of 83 years on Saturday, September 1st, 2018 at the Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle, PA after a battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born September 10th, 1934 in Harrisburg, the son of the late Everett Hale and Irma Mae Stott Jones. At the age of 6 years, Tom lived at the Milton Hershey School from where he graduated in 1953. He then enlisted in the US Marine Corp in 1955 where he was stationed at Paris Island, in Crane Indiana where he was an avid baseball player. After a year and 10 months he was released from the Marines with a medical discharge. Tom also played Semi-Pro Baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies’ Farm team where he received his nickname “Flea” due to his fast running speed. The balance of his work years were spent as a Plumber at the Milton Hershey School, the place he lovingly called his “Home”, and because of this he liked to be called a “MILT”. In his retirement, Tom enjoyed playing golf with his many friends. He was also a member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church. Tom has a wonderful personality, lots of humor and loved to tell jokes to make folks smile. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Shirley A. McCoy. His daughters, Theresa Brubaker, of Clermont, FL; Debra Albright, of York Haven, PA and Marsha Mercurio, of Millersburg, PA. His step-children: Kathy Ferber, of Linglestown and Jeff Kuhn, of Mt. Holly Springs. His brother: Everett Hale Jones, Jr., of Timonium, MD along with many grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 16th, 2018 at 3:00 pm at his church, Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, 450 Chestnut Grove Road, Dillsburg, PA with the Reverend Donna Hildebrand officiating. A visitation will be held Sunday, September 16th, 2018, from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service. A luncheon for family and friends will follow the service at the Church. Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family.
