Steven R. “Steve” Young, 55, Hollidaysburg, died Sunday at his residence. He was born in Osterburg, a son of the late Joseph David Young and Alma Marie (Wagner) Sharpless. Steve married Diane K. Lockard July 24, 1978, in Winchester, Va.

Surviving are his wife; three children: Brian J. at home, Andrea M. Feaster and husband, Scott, of Altoona and Douglas R. at home; two grandchildren: Olivia and Emily Feaster; two sisters: Phyllis Kauffman and Kathy Snowberger, both of Altoona; and two brothers: Thomas Wagner of Hollidaysburg and Robert Young of Altoona. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Ybarra.

Steve was a 1973 graduate of Milton Hershey High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was employed as a union bricklayer.

Steve enjoyed sports, bowling, spending time with his family, and he enjoyed his work. He was an avid blood, plasma and pheresis donor.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Ron Anderson. Interment will be held at Blair Memorial Park.
