Ronald G. Bierman, Age 73, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on August 31, 2010. He was born in Syracuse, NY and spent his childhood at the Milton Hershey School for Boys in Hershey, PA where he graduated valedictorian in 1954. After graduation he attended the University of Delaware where he obtained his B.A. in Accounting. In 1958 he entered into the Naval Officer’s Candidate School where he was commissioned an Ensign. He was assigned to the U.S.S. Springfield as the ship’s Supply Officer. After a 2 year Mediterranean tour he served at the Naval Ordinance Lab in Springfield, MD where he met his wife. He was honorably discharged in 1964 and entered the Navy Reserves until 1969 achieving the rank of full Lieutenant. He worked for the DuPont Company as a systems analyst for 27 years before retiring in 1985. He was an avid gardener, reader, novice historian and a maker of smiles. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Barbara J. Bierman; 3 children, Gregory A. Bierman of San Diego, CA, Stephen G. Bierman of Newark, and Lorene E. Bierman of Wilmington; and 2 granddaughters that he adored, Kristina Lyn and Alexis Marie. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 7, at 11 am, at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike, Talleyville where friends may call after 10 am. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
