Ronald D. Thompson
ThompsonRonald David Thompson, 71, of Lititz, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013, at Lancaster Regional Hospital.
He was born in Pittsburgh to the late Donald and Edith (Boettger) Thompson and was the husband of Nancy (Kellow) Thompson.
Ronald was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Akron, where he served on the church council, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. He was a graduate of the Milton Hershey School and Millersville State Teachers College, where he earned a degree in Industrial Arts. He later earned a master?s equivalency. Ronald was a teacher for the York Suburban Middle School for over 30 years, before his retirement in 2002. He was a past president of the Milton Hershey School Alumni Association. He especially enjoyed music and played keyboard at various venues in the area with his band, Masterpeace. He also enjoyed Pittsburgh sports teams, the computer and golfing. While in high school and college, he participated on the wrestling teams.
In addition to ! his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, David R. Thompson of Houston, TX, Justin David Thompson of Lititz; a granddaughter, Karen Thompson; a brother, Ken Thompson of Frystown and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Thompson.
A memorial service to celebrate Ron?s life will be held on Saturday, July 6, at 2 p.m., at the Zion Lutheran Church, 435 Main St., Akron, with Pastor Matthew Lenahan officiating. The family will receive friends following the interment services in the adjoining church cemetery.
