Mr. Richard Leslie Costenbader, Sr., 87, Monroe, North Carolina, died Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Hospice of Union County. Funeral services will be held 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2207 Lancaster Avenue in Monroe, NC. Interment will take place 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2015 in the Union Cemetery, Slatington, PA.

Mr. Costenbader was born November 16, 1927 in Lehigh County, PA and was the son of the late Henry Larkin and Grace Lotwick Costenbader. He was a 1945 graduate of the Milton S. Hersey Industrial School for Boys and a United States Navy Veteran. Mr. Costenbader retired as the owner and operator of his moving and storage company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Benjamin Costenbader in 1950.

Mr. Costenbader is survived by his wife, Gloria Thornton Costenbader; sons, Richard Leslie Costenbader, Jr. of Paulsboro, NJ and Walter Russell Costenbader of Waxhaw, NC; daughters, Leslie Grace Gindle of West Deptford, NJ, Lynn Martha Coffin of Carneys Pt., NJ and Dale Frances Tomarchio of Swedesboro, NJ; brother, Henry Larkin of Henderson, NV; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
