Richard Edwin Mitchell MHS ’76 Mar 31, 1958 – Dec 11, 2009

Lived alone, was found dead by police at his Papillion, NE, home Friday at 5:30pm.

Mr. Mitchell was born to Herman T. and Hazel E. Mitchell of Fairmount Springs Township, Luzerne County, PA.

He is survived by seven brothers: Dannie R. and Sheldon R., both of Elizabethtown, PA, Herman T. of Zion Grove, PA, Walter R. of Radcliff, KY, Patrick J. of Landisville, PA, Joseph A. of Cocoa, FL, and Luther A. of Lancaster, PA; and six sisters: Ruthie H. Thompson of Somerville, TN, Carol Greco of Grand Island, NY, Delores J. Milunic of Lancaster, PA, Mary A. Fine of Ashley, PA, Madeline K. Wright of Marietta, PA, and Clara M. Kuba of Hazelton, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Frederick H. of Ephrata, PA; David E. of El Toro MCAS, CA; and Mark W. of Grand Prairie, TX.

Mr. Mitchell was a 1976 graduate the Milton Hershey School, Hershey, PA. He enlisted in the US Air Force soon after graduation, and proudly served his country until his retirement after 20 years of loyal and faithful service.

A family memorial service with full military honors; will be scheduled in the spring of 2010 in Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be sent to the USO. Published in Omaha World-Herald on December 16, 2009
