Ray L. Shanabrook
Ray L. Shanabrook, 73, of Coatesville, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown.
He was the widower of the late Shirley Mowday Shanabrook, who passed away in 1998. Born in York, he was the son of the late Paul and Sarah Gettys Shanabrook. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps until 1960.
Ray was employed by the former Lukens Steel Co. as a foreman, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the East Brandywine Baptist Church, as well as the Brandywine Goddard Lodge No. 383 F.&A.M. of Coatesville.
He is survived by two children, Robin Miller, wife of Russell of West Brandywine Township, and Dr. Kevin Shanabrook, husband of Julie of Winchester, Va.; and four grandchildren, Kristen, Ryan, Emma and Clara. He was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Cannington.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. at the East Brandywine Baptist Church, 999 Horseshoe Pike (Route 322), Downingtown, PA 19335, followed by interment in the Forks of the Brandywine Presbyterian Cemetery, Glenmoore, with full military honors.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held at the church on both Friday, Sept. 21, from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the East Brandywine Baptist Church Building Fund at the above address.
