Paul E. Oakman
Paul Edgar Oakman was born on September 14, 1927 in Jerome, Pa., and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 23, 2015 in Sulphur.
Paul was a Navy veteran who served two tours for his country. He enjoyed fishing, working in his vegetable garden, being outdoors, and feeding the birds and squirrels. Paul loved working with his hands doing carpentry work. He built everything from homes, to cabinets and water wheels. Quote from Paul himself: “As I write my own obituary; perhaps I lived this long life to be able to learn that if you can’t live IT, Don’t preach IT.”
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Dorothy Ellingsworth Oakman; four children, Paul Alan Oakman and wife, Irene, Andrew Lee Oakman and wife, Cher, Patrice Lynn Oakman Senegal and husband, Charles, and Brett F. Oakman and wife, Laura; three step-children, James, Richard, and Laura; two brothers, Floyd E. Oakman and wife, Lorraine, and Donald F. Baer and wife, Peggy; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Nathaniel and Minnie Baer Oakman; two sisters, Doris Oakman Drum and Dorothy F. Oakman; and six brothers, Leo, John, Harold, Clyde, James, and Glenn Oakman.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Prien Highland Memorial Gardens.
