Merl G. Conrad
Merl G. Conrad, 79, Wernersville and formerly of West Reading, died Dec. 9, 2008, in Reading Hospital, where he was a patient since Nov. 22. His wife, Janet L. (Ward) Conrad, died July 15, 2003. Born in Temple, he was a son of the late Vincent and Elsie (Bucks) Conrad. He was last employed in the maintenance department of Reading Tube Corp., now Cambridge Lee, Ontelaunee Township, for 30 years. He last worked in July. Conrad was a graduate of Milton Hershey School and was an avid boater and fisherman.
He is survived by a son, Michael G., husband of Kathleen Conrad, Alsace Township; and two daughters, Susan J. Hardy, Mohrsville; and Bonnie L., wife of Scott Schwartz, Exeter Township. Other survivors include a brother, Lawrence Conrad, Lebanon. There are also six grandchildren: Steven Manderbach; Vicki Mlynar; Jenna Rothermel; Katie Conrad; and Lauren and Alison Schwartz; and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Lester Conrad; and a sister, Shirley Oddis.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Milkins Funeral Home Inc., 4914 Kutztown Road, Temple, with the Rev. Merrill R. Marisseau officiating. Inurnment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to service time in the funeral home.
