Lawrence H. Grounds, 61, of Langeloth, died Sunday, July 3, 2011, in Washington Hospital. He was born October 29, 1949, in Bentleyville, a son of the late Robert Clark and Mary Louise Shonehart Grounds.

Mr. Grounds had been a baker and regional manager for Costco stores. He was in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, having served on the SS Roosevelt as a cook. On August 15, 1992, he married Sherry Lee Poyner Grounds, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Lawrence Grounds Jr. of Apple Valley, Calif.; a daughter, Adrienne Bizaldi of Philadelphia; a stepdaughter, Shana-Rae Card of Langeloth; seven grandchildren, Jakob, Dakotah, Zack, Natasha, Alexis, Kaylyn and Chase; and nine siblings. Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two sisters.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9, in Taucher Funeral Home, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, with the Rev. Tom Lemmon officiating. Copyright, 2011, Observer Publishing Company of Washington, Pa.
