Kingston Gurney Dunleavy, 91, of Hagerstown, passed away, Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown. Born March 2, 1923, in Valley View, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late, Gurney A. and Edna Mae (Miller) Dunleavy. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death one sister, Shirley Fetterhoff and one brother, Chester Dunleavy. Mr. Dunleavy retired as a mechanical design engineer for Pacific Scientific, Rockville, Maryland. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of the Morris Frock American Legion, Post 42, Hagerstown and the BPO Elks Lodge 378, Hagerstown. Mr. Dunleavy is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Ruth Ann (Souders) Dunleavy; two daughters, Georgia L. Barvinchack of Greencastle and Betty J. Wray of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Gregory Shook officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Maryland National Guard, honor guard. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 15 Randolph Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740, or to Fahrney Keedy Home and Village, 8507 Mapleville Road, Boonsboro, MD 21713.
