Kenneth V. Hatt, 93, of Hershey passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at home.

He was born December 20, 1923 in Mohnton, PA, a son of the late Edwin, Sr. and Nora (Musser) Hatt.

Mr. Hatt graduated from Milton Hershey School; a WWII army veteran, and a retired HERCO, Inc. Executive. Mr. Hatt began his career with HERCO (formerly Hershey Estates) in 1941 as a Mail/Messenger Person and worked his way up to become the President and Chief Operating Officer of HERCO where he had served in numerous other executive positions.

He also served on the Board of Directors of HERCO, the Hershey Trust Co., and the Hershey Foods Corp.; also on the Board of Managers of the Milton Hershey School and the M S Hershey Foundation. He also held positions for the Four Diamonds Fund, the Harrisburg Chamber of Commerce, the Capital Region Economical Development, and the Hershey Museum.

His organization memberships include Derry Twp. Historical Society, Hershey Rotary Club (past president), Milton Hershey School Alumni Assn. (past president), Hershey Country Club, and the Hershey Volunteer Fire Dept. His Masonic affiliations include memberships in the former Spring Creek Lodge #802 F&AM where he was Master in 1962; a 33rd Degree member of the Harrisburg Consistory, and the Capital Area Scottish Rite Club. He was also a former member of a number of other Masonic organizations.

Mr. Hatt received the Milton Hershey School Alumnus of the Year Award; also the school’s Alumni Service Award; an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Business Management from Dickinson College; and a special acknowledgement plaque as Honorary Chairman of the Hershey Story Capital Campaign on display at the Hershey Story facility.

Surviving are two nieces, Jill Bowman Laudermilich of Annville & Jan Bowman Tshudy of Harrisburg; many great nieces & nephews and many close friends. He was predeceased by his wife Eleanor M. (Bowman) Hatt, 7 brothers, and 3 sisters.

A private family service and interment will be held in the Hershey Cemetery. The family requests donations in his memory to be made to The Hershey Story, “Share the Story” Scholarship Fund, 63 West Chocolate Avenue, Hershey, PA, 17033. Checks should be made payable to The Hershey Story.
