Kenneth C. Fassnacht
Kenneth C. Fassnacht, 92, of Lancaster, PA, formerly of Ephrata, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Brethren Village. He was the husband of Ruth E. (Corl) Fassnacht. His first wife, Grace J. (Keiper) Fassnacht, passed away in 1992; they were married on June 14, 1941. Kenneth was born on December 9, 1919 in Ephrata, PA, son of the late Paul and Minnie (Adams) Fassnacht.
He was a member of the Ephrata Church of the Brethren where he was choir member and former Evangelism Chairman and was formerly a long-time member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ephrata. After graduating from Milton Hershey Industrial School in 1937, Kenneth was employed for seven years at the Animal Trap Factory in Lititz, PA as an Electrician Helper. He then worked for W.W. Moyer Co. in Ephrata, PA for one year as a Maintenance Worker and then New Holland Machine Co. as an Electrician and Maintenance Man for four years. Kenneth then transferred to New Holland’s Lancaster Plant as a Supervisor where he worked for 13 years. In 1966, he moved to Grand Island, NE where he worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for Sperry New Holland until his retirement in 1982. Kenneth and his wife lived in Grand Island until 1988 when they returned to Ephrata. While in Ephrata, he worked at the Doctor’s Press until 1992. He had been a resident and volunteer at Brethren Village since 1993.
In addition to his wife Ruth, Kenneth is survived by two daughters: Sharon L., wife of Richard Gertler of Raton, NM, and Cynthia A., wife of Timothy Ziller of _Graham, NC; three sons: _Dennis L., husband of Susan Fassnacht of Yorba Linda, CA, Gerald P., husband of _Margene Fassnacht of Palm Harbor, FL, and James B. Fassnacht of Tempe, AZ; nine grandchildren; and eighteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are three stepchildren: LaVerne Good of Ephrata, PA, Betty L., wife of John “Jack” Breidenstine of Hummelstown, PA, and Ellis D., husband of Judy Wenger of Ephrata, PA; seven step grandchildren; and twelve step great grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife Grace and parents, Kenneth was predeceased by five brothers: Robert, Richard, Raymond, Cloyd, and Bernard and a sister, Irene.
Friends will be received at the chapel at Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17606 from 10-10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012. Memorial services will begin at 10:30 a.m. after the visitation. A luncheon for those attending will follow at Brethren Village. Interment will be private. Services are under the care of Paul L.
