Joseph M. Senser
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Joe Senser ’74, a proud Milton Hershey School graduate, former member of the MHS Board of Managers, and nationally recognized athlete.
Joe’s life story embodies the very mission of our Home and School. He came to MHS after his father passed away at 47. After graduating in 1974, Joe carried the lessons, values, and opportunities of MHS to West Chester University, where he played college football and was later drafted into the NFL by the Minnesota Vikings. Throughout his remarkable career, including his years as a Vikings tight end, he was guided by the ideals and principles he learned at MHS. Just as importantly, those ideals and principles eventually guided him back Home to serve MHS as a dedicated member of our Board of Managers and the Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Board of Directors.
Joe never forgot the impact MHS had on his life. He believed deeply in the power of this School to change lives, and he gave back with gratitude, humility, and a strong sense of responsibility to the students who followed in his footsteps. He was a fierce advocate for MHS and consistently acted with an unwavering commitment to the mission our founders, Milton and Catherine Hershey, envisioned.
On behalf of Milton Hershey School, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Joe’s family, friends, classmates, and all those whose lives he touched. We are grateful for his life, his service, and the example he set for generations of Spartans.
Please keep the Senser family in your prayers during this difficult time.
