John S. White
JOHN S. “JACK”, passed away in his home in the Shannondell Retirement Community Nov. 24, 2010. Born in West Chester, PA in 1933, John was an independent computer consultant who lived and worked in the Philadelphia area for a most of his life. John graduated from the Milton Hershey School in 1950 and served in US Army security from 1950-54 in Formosa before graduating from Drexel University in 1958. John later earned a Masters in Library Science from Drexel, and made progress towards a Doctorate in Literature from the University of Pennsylvania. John was an active golfer, reader and cartoonist, and had a love for horse racing.
John is survived by his son, John S. White Jr. (Chicago), cousin Joanne Schulze (Reading, PA) and former wife, Susan White Halstrick (Doylestown, PA). John almost made it to grandfather hood, as John Jr. has a little one on the way (due April 12). He would have been a stellar grand dad. He was the best father anyone could ever ask for and will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of Tredyffrin Public Library in Strafford, PA. A memorial gathering will be held at Winberies on 1164 Valley Forge Rd. in Wayne, Pa from 1 – 4 P.M. on Tuesday, November 30, 2010.
