John J. Campbell
John J. “Jack” Campbell, Jr., 67, of Washington Boro, died Saturday afternoon at the Hospital of the University of PA after a brief illness.
He was married 47 years to his beloved wife, Joyce Hess Campbell, who survives.
Born in Scranton, PA, he is the son of the late John J. Sr. and Verna Garren Campbell.
Jack retired in 2003 after 43 years of service from Alcoa, Inc., where he was the Maintenance Manager. In 1997, he founded Campbell Consultants, Inc., a firm specializing in industrial training.
A dedicated member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Columbia, he was a member of the Holy Name Society, and was instrumental in founding the Father Russell Fund.
An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he has been a season ticket holder since 1983. He also enjoyed woodworking.
Jack will be remembered as a man of responsibility and inspired many to be their best.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Joyce Marie Campbell, Savannah, GA; Denise Campbell of New Stanton, PA; John J. Campbell III, Lancaster PA; Angela wife of Douglas Wiggins of Lititz, PA; Adam Campbell and his wife Melissa, Columbia PA; Matthew Campbell and his wife, Chris, of Millersville PA; Mark Campbell, Conestoga, PA and Shawn Campbell of Washington Boro. Fourteen grandchildren also survive.
A sister, Mary Alice Campbell, preceded him in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Second and Union Streets, Columbia PA, on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dominic DiBiccaro, Celebrant, and Fr. Joshua Brommer, Con-Celebrant. Rite of Committal and Interment in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens.
There will be no public viewing Friday morning; however, the family will receive friends at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Walnut Street, Columbia PA, on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service to be held at 7:30 p.m.
