Just a quick update on the subject. James Barger, Class of 1962) passed away on September 6, 2000. He was killed while on a motorcycle and the person who hit him (80 year old woman) was charged with vehicular homicide. His wife told me that she sent a note to MHS back then, but 9 years has gone by and she’s never had acknowledgment. In fact, she didn’t know about the service last Sunday, September 13, 2009, and appreciated the program that I sent to her. It was a complete surprise to me; otherwise, I would have accepted the rose on her behalf. This woman is in living hell right now. She’s on welfare, she’s ill, and the woman who killed her husband was let off because of her age. A civil suit followed with the insurance company and she received little to nothing. People who said they would stand by her disappeared. Ah, all so sad. I told her that the Class of 1962 would have a memorial brick dedicated to Harry, as she called him, over the next month or so. I’ll take care of that with you, using the appropriate template. Anyway, wanted to give you the update–spoke to her for 45 minutes and realized, once again, how quickly our lives can change.
