Glenn C. Landau
Glenn Charles Landau, 70, was welcomed into his heavenly home Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014. Glenn was born in Shamokin, July 17, 1944, to the late Harry Landau and Edna Landau.
He always had stories of humor and mischief from his childhood, and his love of family and friends kept him true to his hometown when he set down permanent roots. A 1963 graduate of the Milton Hershey School for Boys, Glenn was a member of the glee club, the football team and the wrestling team.
After graduating, Glenn served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1967. Later, he pursued the training he received at Hershey as a sheet metal worker and welder, and earned the reputation of being a dependable employee who knew his craft well.
He found love with Sharon (Nestor) Landau, and married her in 1976. They shared 38 years, two children and two grandchildren together, and weathered the storms of life as well as its joys side by side.
Glenn was a lifelong member of Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, Shamokin. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior as a child, and that faith was a part of him throughout his life. Those who loved Glenn knew he felt humility and joy to be named a child of God, and he would confidently share with anyone both the need and joy of having a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Wanting to honor the Lord with however little or much he had, Glenn’s generous heart would offer assistance to anyone in need. He always felt the blessing was his when God opened the door for him to help another.
At church, he served as an elder, Sunday school teacher, worship leader and choir director. He also spent many years serving with Child Evangelism Fellowship of Northumberland County.
Glenn will be dearly missed by his family. Surviving him in addition to his wife, Sharon, are his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Melissa Landau; his daughter, Julie Landau; two granddaughters, Evangeline and Morgan Landau; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda and Jere Snyder, and Barbara Landau; and a brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Marlene Landau.
A funeral to celebrate his life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, 35 S. Second St., Shamokin with the Rev. Ferd Madara officiating. Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church. The Farrow Funeral Home, Sixth and Chestnut streets, Shamokin, is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Glenn’s memory to Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, 35 S. Second St., Shamokin 17872, or Child Evangelical Fellowship of Northumberland County, P.O. Box 711, Deep Creek Road, Hegins 17930.
