Obituary of Gerald D. Wade Gerald D. Wade Gerald D. Wade, 87, of Mount Joy passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at his home.
He was married to Helen Dillinger Wade for 60 years. Gerald worked for the former Business Press in Lancaster for 25 years and retired from the Donegal School District in 1998. Previously he was employed by the former Seiler Printing, Mount Joy and the former Armstrong Cork Co., Marietta.
An active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mount Joy, Gerald was a 1940 graduate of the former Milton S. Hershey Industrial School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army. A handyman, Gerald enjoyed taking care of his home and gardening.
Born in Argentine, he was the son of the late Phillip S. and Elizabeth McNish Wade. In addition to his wife, Helen, he is survived by a son Philip L. married to Beth Martin Wade, Lititz. Two brothers, Walter and D. Lewis Wade preceded him in death.
A memorial service celebrating Gerald’s life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, 16 E. Main St., Mount Joy on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 11 am. Interment to follow in Mount Joy Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 10 until 11 am.
