AIKEN GEORGE S. “SAM” Age 79, of Churchill, on Monday, July 16, 2007. Beloved husband of “Dee” (Donahue) Aiken; loving father of Maureen Aiken, Ken (Cheryl) Aiken, Nancy (Robert) Kelly and Sharon (Gary) Cebek; 8 grandchildren and 51 nieces and nephews; preceded in death by Carl, Alice, Margaret, Ruth, Eleanor and Jim.

Sam rose to the rank of Master Sergeant during the Korean War. He started his career in 1949, which spanned over 54 years. Sam founded the well known George Aiken’s Shoppes chain which became one of the first fast food/deli’s famous for chicken and a variety of quality prepared foods throughout the Pittsburgh area.

In 1974 he opened the popular Georgetowne Inn atop Mt. Washington and Fairchild’s Restaurant in Monroeville, both known for their spectacular views. He worked tirelessly with the dedicated support and hard work of his wife of 57 years. He was an extremely generous man who helped countless people in their careers and life. Sam will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. He was truly one of the great ones!! The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support.
