Frederick R. Winters
Frederick R. Winters BELLEVILLE – Frederick R. Winters, 72, of 301 Rolling Ridge Drive, State College, died 7:25 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at Valley View Haven, Belleville.
Born Aug. 4, 1935, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Frederick W. and Catherine (Huey) Winters. His wife, Barbara (Mowery) Winters, preceded him in death in 2001.
Surviving are children, Renee Wright and husband, Jeffery, McClure, Frederica Keeler and husband, Melvin, Atlanta, Ga., Sandra Winters, Baltimore, Md., James Winters, Lewistown; a sister, Jean (Kline) Swauger, McAlisterville; a brother, David Winters, Lewistown; and four grandchildren, Angela Rhodes, James Rhodes, Justin Wright and Brady Wright. He was preceded in death by a brother, Tim Winters.
He is a Milton Hershey School Alumni, and a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University Class of 1988, where he received a BS in Individual and Family Studies, and later received a Master’s in Education from Penn State. He worked as a rehabilitation counselor and in early life worked for Standard Steel, Burnham. He was a member of the United States Marine Corp. He was very active in the AA, was an avid Penn State fan and a member of the National Rehabilitation Association.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. J. Faust Hissong officiating. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a military service conducted by VFW Post No. 7011, Lewistown.
