Frank Sylvester Leis
Mr. S. Frank Leis, 85, died Saturday, May 6, 2006. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at 9 a.m. in the chapel at Arlington National Cemetery.
Mr. Leis, a native of Lawrence, Kan., was a graduate of the University of Miami, and earned his MBA degree from George Washington University.
He was a Colonel in the United States Marine Corps, having served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He received a number of awards and medals, including a Distinguished Flying Cross, and a Navy Commendation Medal with Combat “V.” Following retirement from his military career in 1974, he was employed as a Deputy Comptroller for the Commonwealth of Virginia until 1996.
Mr. Leis was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Frances Galvin Leis, in 2004. He is survived by two daughters, Suzanne Leis Carson and her husband, Tom, of Bethel and Beverly Leis Shannon and her husband, Robert, of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, S. Frank Leis III of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Betsy L. Elliott of Jacksonville, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
