Emmett Lee Hayford, 58, of Elmira, N.Y., formerly of Athens, Pa. passed away on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 unexpectedly due to a pre-existing heart condition. Emmett was born on Feb. 2, 1957 in Elmira, the son of the late Paul Victor and Eleanor Jean Rowe Hayford. He attended Milton Hershey High School and furthered his education in Offset Printing (full color) press. He was employed with Tioga Park Security and Masonite as a kiln operator from 1977 to 2007. Emmett was a line officer for the Sayre Ambulance Corps and a volunteer firefighter for Athens Township Volunteer Fire Company. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, bowler in school, Ice hockey, football and on the swim team. He is predeceased by a half-brother Robert Hansell, half-sister Elizabeth Hansell and Helen Hansell, sister-in-law Darlene Hayford, and nephew Jason Johnson. He is survived by his significant other Mae Kenney of 26 years; his siblings and their spouses, Paula Hayford, Athens, Pa., David Hayford, of Athens, Peggy and Rick Johnson of Athens, Theresa Hayford of Athens, Nancy K. Delp of Iowa, Lyle T. Delp of Towanda, Pa., Vicki Jo Hayford of Wysox, Pa., Tammy Sue of Wysox, and his step-mother Betty Hayford, numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. A memorial service will be held at at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016 at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, Pa. with Rev. Linda Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, Pa. at the convenience of the family.
