E. Henry Potkamper
E. Henry Potkamper, 91, passed away on September 27, 2008, at Community General Osteopathic Hospital. Born September 17, 1917, he was the son of the late Daniel and Charlotte (Rank) Potkamper. Henry was a proud alumnus of the Hershey Industrial School, Class of 1935, and the Central Penn Business School. He was a veteran of both the United States Army and Navy serving in World War II. After being honorably discharged in 1945, he worked as an accountant for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation until his retirement.
Henry was a 50 year member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest #43, Steelton/Swatara Lodge #775, F & AM, and the recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Leadership and Service Award from the Lions Club International serving over 50 years with the Lawnton/Oakleigh Lions Club. He was always concerned, interested and eager to participate in his community improvement projects. In addition to his parents, Henry was predeceased by his sisters, Mary and Callen and Esther Sangrey.
A devoted husband of 66 years, he is survived by his wife, Mary (Pagano); brother-in-law, James Pagano (Mary); sisters-in-law, Ann Lovendusky, Janet Parr (Donald), and Doris Pagano; as well as nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will always remember him as a loving, caring gentleman.
In accordance with Henry’s wishes, private Masonic Services followed by a memorial service will be conducted at the convenience of the family. The family wishes to acknowledge the kindness and excellent care given to Henry by the staffs of the Colonial Park Care Center and Community General Osteopathic Hospital during his recent illness.
