Douglas J. Kriegel, age 65 of Toledo, passed away March19, 2018 in The Toledo Hospital. Doug was born October 27, 1952 in Lima, OH to Robert and Mildred (Best) Kriegel. He was a 1971 graduate of the Milton Hershey High School in Hershey PA and he attended the University of Toledo. Doug married Mary Haupricht March 26, 1982. He worked for Flower Hospital in Surgical Services for over 30 years until retiring in 2013.

Doug loved the Detroit sports teams and spending time with his family and beloved grandchildren. Surviving are his loving wife, Mary; son, Anthony Kriegel; granddaughter, Evangeline Kriegel; and grandson, Anthony Kriegel, Jr. Also surviving are his brothers: Michael Kriegel, David (Judy) Kriegel, Rob (Beth) Kriegel and Tony Kriegel along with his foster family, Monica Holzemer, Brian (Bahar) Holzemer, Elizabeth (Dr. Dan) Weed, Jimmy (Patty)Layton and Larry (Marlene) Layton. Doug was preceded in death by his parents.

Doug’s Life Celebration will begin Friday, March 23, with the visitation from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in Urbanski Funeral Home, A Life Celebration Home, 5055 Secor Road, Toledo, (419) 475-5055. Additional visitation will take place in funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until closing prayers at 11:30 a.m. The Funeral Mass will begin at noon in Christ the King Catholic Church. Contributions may be made to Christ the King Church or the American Kidney Foundation.
