Donald R. Emenheiser, 87, of Mount Joy passed away at the Masonic Village of Elizabethtown on September 24, 2013.

His late wife, Vivian Fitzwater Emenheiser, died in 1991. He will be deeply missed by his children, Rick (Phyllis Heisey) Emenheiser of Mount Joy and Marta (Brian) Evans of Greensboro, NC, stepsons, Raymond C. (Marty) Livingston of Elizabethtown and Donald L. (Sue) Livingston of Driftwood.

His 7 grandchildren: Michelle Loehr, Lori Freedman, Tim Livingston, Jodi Pierson, Dawn Livingston, Ashley Riley, and Aleigha Clark, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandsons will miss his companionship.

Also surviving is his sister, Betty Liput, and two nieces, Tina Feathers and Cindy Santiago. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott, in 1979.

An active coach, volunteer and community partner in Mount Joy, he was instrumental in the formation of many organizations. Don was a charter and founding member of the Mount Joy Athletic Association and involved in the construction of Kunkle Field. He served as secretary for the Lanco Midget Baseball League, and as a coach for the Mount Joy and Florin Jr. Midget and Midget teams for many years. Don was “President Emeritus” of the Donegal Wrestling Booster Club, and was inducted into the Donegal Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007. He was a charter member of the Florin Fire Co., and a lifetime member of the Fire Department of Mount Joy. In addition he was a life member of the Mount Joy Sportsmen’s Association, a member of the Mount Joy Historical Society and a life member of American Legion, Post 185 Mount Joy.

Don retired in 1989 from a long career with AMP Inc., and later served on the Board of Directors for the AMP Retirees Association.

An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing at his camp in Sinnemahoning, Cameron County. An active member of the Mount Joy Community, his presence will be missed by his family, co-workers and the many people who called him a friend and “Coach.”

Born in Rheems, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Cora Teeter Emenheiser. He was a 1944 graduate of the Hershey Industrial School and served many years on the Milton Hershey School Alumni Association. A veteran, he proudly served in the US Army during WWII.

A Funeral Service honoring Don’s life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc., 16 East Main St., Mount Joy on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment with Military Honors to follow in the Mount Joy Cemetery. Friends may call at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Mount Joy from 9 until the time of the service.
