Donald L. “Rip” Corby, 77, of Saint Clair, died Wednesday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.

Born in Wadesville, Oct. 10, 1938, he was a son of the late Charles and Coleta Haley Corby. He was a 1956 graduate of Milton S. Hershey School, and attended Landis Tool Trade School, Chambersburg. He was employed a machinist at Dana Corp., Reading.

Rip was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Church, Saint Clair. He was also a member of Saint Clair Fish and Game Association, Saint Clair Old Timers Baseball Association, West End Hose Company, all of Saint Clair, and Wadesville Hose Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Robert, William and Edward Corby; two sisters, Jean Houtz and Ruth Ernst; a grandson, Scotty Haslam, in 2015. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Straub Corby, to whom he was married for 55 years; a son, Donald L. Corby Jr., husband of Jean, Nottingham, Md; daughters, Eileen, wife of Bob Butts, Lake Mary, Fla., Nancy Haslam, fiancee of Michael Houseknecht, Saint Clair, and Lisa Corby, Pottsville; four grandchildren, Crystal Siebold, Justin Corby, Robby Butts and Jeffrey Haslam; a great-grandson, Dylan Haslam; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Clare of Assisi Church, Saint Clair, with Monsignor William Glosser as the celebrant. Friends are invited to call from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at James H. Evans Funeral Home Inc., Saint Clair. The funeral procession will depart from the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. for the church. There will be no calling hours Sunday evening. Interment will be in Queen of the Universe Cemetery, Pottsville.
