DONALD ALLISON NEWTON, A loving husband, father and grandfather peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.

Don was born in Waynesboro PA on November 17, 1931. Orphaned at age 8, he resided at and graduated from the Milton Hershey School in Pennsylvania, where he learned his strong work ethic.

Subsequent to high school, Don developed his keen sense of adventure through four years of active duty service on a Navy submarine. Following military service, he received a Bachelor’s Degree and became a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity at American University.

He met and married his first wife, Patti Sheller Newton, remaining in the DC area and working as an insurance agent for 41 years. Don was an avid volunteer serving on the Board of The Pathways Schools, and as a long-time Trustee and Elder of Northwood Presbyterian Church.

Don enjoyed meeting new people, traveling, reading, dancing and playing golf. He was always fun to be around. If you met him once, he made a lasting impression on you.

Don leaves behind his wife, Betty of 32 years; beloved son, Clarke Allison Newton (Sandy); step-children, Jim Brackman, Vicki Kane and Karen Mullikin (Robert); and 10 grandchildren, Calvin Kane, Lucas Kane, Samantha Mullikin, Francesca Newton, Sarah Mullikin, Elana Brackman, Melissa Kane, Mason Newton, Kendall Newton and Kai Brackman.

Don donated his body to the Anatomy Board of Maryland for medical education and research. A celebration of his life is planned for early June. Condolences can be sent to his family. Newton, to The Arbor Society, The American Heart Association, Northwood Presbyterian Church, or you can contribute to your favorite charity.
