Dennis Lee Penrose, Sr., age 64, of Pottstown, PA, died on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at his home.

Born in Pottstown, PA, he was a son of the late Bayard and Alice (Whitby) Penrose.

Dennis was a graduate of the Milton Hershey School, Hershey, PA. Mr. Penrose was a U.S. Army Veteran, earning a bronze star while serving in the Vietnam War, from 1967-69. He worked as a carpenter for the Shrum Construction Co. for several years. He was an avid race fan and enjoyed NASCAR and Modified/Sportsman Dirt Track Racing. He was a regular at Grandview Raceway and traveled to many places to see races including: New York, Ohio, Charlotte and FL as well as, many other places over 40 years.

He was a member of the Knights of Colombus and the V.F.W. Post #780 in Pottstown and the V.F.W. Post in Royersford, PA.

Survivors include: Wife – Rosann (Conley) Penrose of Stowe, PA Three Sons – Shannon Conley of Stowe, PA Dennis Lee Penrose, Jr. and his wife Jeanette of Stowe, PA Brennan Penrose of Jeannette, PA Two Daughters – Trini, wife of David Long of Douglassville, PA Devon Conley of Birdsboro, PA One Brother – Edward Penrose of South Carolina One Sister – Eileen Conley of Clearwater, FL Four Grandchildren- Ashlee Nailon, Ava Grace Rodney, David Long, Jr. and Kyle Penrose. Two Great Grandchildren – Caiden and Conner Foor In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son – Shawn Penrose.

A memorial service will be held from 1:00pm-4:00pm on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the V.F.W. Post #780, 530 E. High Street, Pottstown, PA.

Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to assist in defraying funeral costs, c/o Dennis Lee Penrose, Jr., 505 Berks Street, Stowe, PA 19464.
