David G. Evans, 79, of New Florence, passed away Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at his home surrounded by family. Born July 31, 1936, in Johnstown, he was a son of the late Gurney and Mary (Bailey) Evans.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Maddison) Evans; great-grandchildren, Ryder Jeremiah Purvis and Baby Girl Purvis; sisters, Virginia Bender and Dolly Van Gundy; and brother, George Evans.

He is survived by his children, Deborah Jungers and husband, Lonnie, of Brandon, Miss., Cindy Nevaril, of Adams, Neb., and Cathy Carney and husband, Doug, of New Florence; grandchildren, Ryan Jungers, Makayla Purvis, Jennifer Nevaril, Adam Nevaril, Erin Quick, Kyle Carney and Jason Carney; and great-grandchildren, Karter, Logan, Raya, Maya, Lucas, Cheyanne and Cliodhna.

Dave served in the both the Air Force and the Army; he was a member of the VFW and American Legion, Greater Johnstown F&AM Lodge 538 and a life member of the New Florence Volunteer Fire Company. Dave’s great joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at KENNETH A. STUART FUNERAL HOME, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence, where service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, with Chaplain Tom Spiker officiating. Interment will be in Fairfield Cemetery.
