Carl T. Ludden, 81, a resident of Lederach for the last 20 years, formerly of Harleysville, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 at Grand View Hospital.

He was the husband of Bettianne (Betton) Ludden, to whom he was married 48 years. Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Helene (Schimmelbusch) Ludden.

He was a 1948 graduate of Dickinson College, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He was a senior research pharmacologist at Merck, where he was employed for more than 35 years.

He was a member of Pocono Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree Mason with Lehigh Consistory. He was associated with Gwynedd Square Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed reading about history, completing crossword puzzles and baseball.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, C. Thomas Ludden, and his wife Karen Libertiny Ludden of Farmington Hills, Mich.; a daughter, Anne of Minnesota; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Ludden.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, Nov. 5 at 1:30 p.m. at R.L. Williams Jr. Funeral Home, Skippack Pike at Cedars Road, Skippack., where friends may visit may call for viewing from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Pennsylvania SPCA, 350 E. Erie Ave., Philadelphia PA 19134.
