Carl A. Albert, 78, of Chambers Hill, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2009, in the Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Lower Paxton Township.

Born in Lebanon on August 8, 1931, he was the son of the late John and Amy Dohner Albert. Carl was a Boiler Plant Operator having worked for 17 years for the former Crane Company, Middletown, for 10 years at the Harrisburg Incinerator, for the Community General Osteopathic Hospital, and finally retiring from the Hershey Medical Center. He was a 1949 graduate of the former Hershey Industrial School for Boys. Carl was a US Navy veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW #1687, Hummelstown, and the AmVets Post #286, Rutherford. Carl enjoyed gardening and flowers, loved to read, and enjoyed country music and shows. Most of all, Carl loved his grandchildren and family.

Carl is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan A. Woodward Albert, whom he married on December 25, 1954; two daughters, Linda D. Notarangelo wife of Samuel of Rutherford, and Sherry A. May wife of Bruce of Fredericksburg; and three grandchildren, Brandy A. May of Fredericksburg, Corey A. Notarangelo and Jordan L. Notarangelo, both of Rutherford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Albert; and three brothers, George, Frank, and Allen Albert.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 4, 2009, at 11:30 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with Chaplain James May, officiating. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township. A viewing will be held Monday in the funeral home from 10:30 AM until time of the service.
