Austin B. Messinger, 81, of Walnutport, formerly of Slatington, died Monday, Dec. 24. He was the husband of Gloria A. (DeLong) Messinger. He worked for the American Nickeloid before retiring, and had a baker’s route in the Slatington area.Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Henry and Ellen (Cole) Messinger. Surviving in addition to his widow are two daughters, Ellen, wife of Keith Neff of Walnutport, and Judy Haydt, and her companion, Dave Hedmeck, of Slatington; two grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
