Robert “Bob” O. Bettleyon

Robert “Bob” Bettleyon ’50, 92, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at the Middletown Home. He was the husband of the late Nanna Bettleyon. 

Robert “Bob” Bettleyon, 92, of Hershey, passed away on June 20, 2024, at the Middletown Home.

He was born February 15, 1932, in Dalmatia, PA, son of the late Clarence and Ella (Keene) Bettleyon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nanna (Underkoffler) Bettleyon in 2011, son Marc Bettleyon in 2021, and all of his siblings.

Bob was a 1950 graduate of the Hershey Industrial School (HIS), now known as the Milton Hershey School, and was a Korean Army Veteran. He worked as a Tool and Die Maker at TRW/Chromalloy and retired after 45 years of service.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hershey, and the Milton Hershey School Alumni Association. Bob was very proud to be a “home-boy” along with all his “brothers”.

Bob was a founding member and served on the initial Board of Directors of the Hershey Baseball Association. He coached Hershey’s Senior Teener and American Legion baseball teams from the late 1960s through 1985.

Surviving is his daughter, Vicki M. (Kirk) Sponaugle of Hummelstown, and Grandsons Kellen R. & Matthew T. Kulbacki.

A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory in Hershey. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 11:00am with another visitation beginning at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 212 Cocoa Avenue, Hershey PA 17033. Interment with Military Honors will be private at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to his church, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 212 Cocoa Avenue, Hershey PA 17033.
