Richard A. Hobba ’67, 74, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Claremont Nursing and Rehab.

Richard A. Hobba, 74, of Carlisle, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Claremont Nursing and Rehab, Carlisle. Born April 19, 1949, in Windber, PA, he was a son of the late Raymond and Ivadene (Machtley) Hobba.

Richard was a graduate of Milton Hershey High School, Class of 1967, and attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Indiana University. He enjoyed playing tennis, downhill skiing, overseas traveling to China, Africa, and Europe, going to the ocean, attending operas, cooking, baking, and entertaining friends and guests. He was an avid collector of Dept. 56 Dicken’s Villages. He was active in planning and loved going to the annual family reunions.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Gwendolyn Seese, Gerald Hobba and Marion Streletz; brothers-in-law, Clyde Seese, John Streletz, and James Joyce; and a sister-in-law, Doris Hobba.

Richard leaves behind 5 siblings, Joan Miller (Ray) of New Paris, PA, Kenneth (Patricia) Hobba of Dover, PA, Wanda Joyce of Mechanicsburg, PA, Barry Hobba (Rosemary) of Warwick, RI, and Curtis Hobba (Deborah) of Carlisle, PA; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to the nurses and staff at Claremont Nursing and Rehab and the nurses of Residential Hospice for the wonderful care provided to Richard.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 4, 2023, 1PM, at Dillsburg Community Church, 412 Mountain Rd, Dillsburg, PA 17019. The family will receive guests for a visitation at the church from 12:30PM-1PM. Pastor Lori Riggs will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to: Claremont Nursing and Rehab Center, 1000 Claremont Rd, Carlisle, PA 17013; or to Residential Hospice, 100 Sterling Pkwy #110, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
