Myron A. McCurdy

Myron A. McCurdy ’82, 60, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024. He was the husband of Janice (Shope) McCurdy.

A time of prayer and remembrance will be held on Saturday August 3, 2024 at 11AM at Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. (618 E. Main Street, Annville) in honor of Myron A. McCurdy.

Myron, 60, was the husband of Janice N. (Shope) McCurdy, with whom he celebrated 31 years in marriage.

Myron was born in Schenectady, NY on December 6, 1963 to the late Wayne Wallace McCurdy Jr., and Ethel Louise (Brigham) McCurdy. He was a US Army National Guardsman, having served from 1983-1989. He was a relief houseparent at Milton Hershey School from 1986-2003. He graduated from Messiah College in December 1987 with a BA in behavioral sciences. He obtained his PA Department of Public Welfare certification in 1997, as a child welfare DPW/Direct Service Worker. In 2001, he obtained his PA Department of Public Welfare certification as child welfare/DPW supervisor. In 2009, Myron obtained his MSLBE (Master’s Degree Leadership and Business Ethics) from Duquesne University. He had worked with York County Children and Youth Services from 1988-2003. During the years 2008-2016, he had been the senior program advisor and long-standing consultant for The World’s Children Center and Academy in Atlanta, GA. Myron had been with Milton Hershey School from 2003-2023 as a home life administrator. More recently, he had worked as a unit supervisor for Dauphin County Children and Youth Services.

Myron was a member of New Life Church of Hershey, and recently attended Encounter Church of Palmyra. He enjoyed baseball, listening to music, playing guitar, welding, volunteering, tinkering around the house, going to auctions and thrift stores, and always looking for a good deal.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Emily Sattora (Jeff) of Downingtown, David McCurdy (Maddie) of Rochester, NY, Elizabeth McCurdy (EmmaLeah Hardin) of Washington DC, Matthew McCurdy of Cleona, Moises Payamps of Hershey, Terry Donaher (Sarah) of Hershey, four grandsons, and his siblings, Jan Mills (Barry) of Etters, PA, James McCurdy, Wayne McCurdy, Donald McCurdy, Pamela Saylor and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Ann McCurdy.
