Michael Bacon

Michael Bacon ’71, 69, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. He was the husband of Gale Bacon.

Michael Bacon, age 69, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 14, 2023.   He is survived by Gale, his wife of 45 years, daughters Kendra (Jim) Rudd and Emily (Ben) Hoff, six beloved grandchildren, brother Ed (Jane Nadelson) Bacon, and sister Mary (Peter) Rosenkrans, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father Arthur and his mother Grace, and brother Francis Bacon.

Mike was born on January 20, 1954 in Kingston, PA.  He was raised in eastern PA and graduated from Milton Hershey School.  At Edinboro University in Edinboro, PA, he came to salvation in Jesus through the ministry of Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO) and met the love of his life, Gale.  Mike was employed as a school teacher and raised his family in Oxford, PA, Erie, PA and then Meadville, PA where he retired from being a Co-op Education Coordinator at the Crawford County Vo-Tech school.   Mike and Gale moved to Ohio after retirement.   They were active in many churches in the areas they lived and were involved in Bible Studies and Small Groups. Mike taught Adult Sunday School and served in leadership roles.

Mike was very passionate about fulfilling his call by God as an educator.  In retirement, he continued to be active by working with international students teaching ESL through The Akron Chapel, and as recently as January 2023, was employed as a math tutor through Akron Public Schools.  His love for people of all nations and backgrounds was a beautiful representation of the love of Jesus and showed his devotion to the Lord.

He delighted in his grandchildren, was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals, and enjoyed playing pickleball.

He will be dearly missed by all that knew him for his kind heart and quick-witted puns.

A memorial service will be held at Freshwater Community Church, 590 Hartman Road, Wadsworth OH, on Monday, March 20th at 1:00 p.m. No calling hours will be observed.  However, at the service, remembrances and notes for his family may be written and placed at a designated area.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be directed to the following charities:
