John H. Martin

John H. Martin ’58, 82, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, PA. He was the husband of Barbara Keim.

John H. Martin, 82, of Myerstown, Bethel Township, PA, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, PA.

Born December 2, 1940, in Woodchoppertown, Berks County, PA, he was one of thirteen children of the late Harry I. and Margaret Elizabeth (Drake) Martin. John was a graduate from Milton S. Hershey School and served his country with the U.S. Army for four years. He was retired from Penco Products, Inc. where he worked for over thirty years as a roll form operator. He enjoyed working in his garden/yard, watching football, baseball & old movies and shooting shuffleboard. John was a very independent, reliable, dependable and hard-working man. He helped his family as much as he could. John also loved animals.

Surviving are his domestic companion of forty-two years, Barbara A. Keim; two sons, John H. Martin., Jr. of Jacksonville, NC and Roy D. Martin of Bliss, NY; three daughters, Tina M. Pearce of Jacksonville, NC, Christina L. Rakshys of Allentown, PA and Jennifer L. Hartman (and husband Jeremy) of Gambier, OH.; seven grand-children; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. His surviving siblings are one brother, Richard C. Martin (and wife Cynthia) of Pottstown, PA; and three sisters, Ruth A. Olkewicz of Spring City, PA, Joan C. Whited of Limerick, PA and Linda L. Hallman (and husband Ronald) of Pottstown, PA. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by four brothers, Charles A. Martin, Harry I. Martin, Robert L. Martin and Paul J. Martin; and four sisters, Elizabeth M. Klerr, J. Eleanor Jacobs, Shirley A. Yorgey and Margaret L. Ervin.

John’s final wishes will be honored by his family as he chose not to have a service and burial. His ashes will be scattered in the wind and a marker will be placed in his memory at Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown, PA in the Veteran’s Garden.
