James Ayres

James M. Ayres, born March 11, 1937, passed away, under hospice care on June 3, 2022, from advanced dementia.

Jim’s home was in Wilmington, Delaware. In 1948, his mother enrolled Jim into the Hershey Industrial School as a sixth grader, residing at farm home Applehurst. A year later his younger brother Gerry (’57) and Rich (‘60), were also enrolled.  He graduated from the Milton Hershey School in 1955. He was well liked at the farm home and at school and was a good student. He was also an outstanding athlete, excelling in football and wrestling. Shortly after graduation, Jim entered the Air Force. Later, while working for Westinghouse Electric in Cleveland, Ohio, he earned his BS degree primarily by attending night school. Jim followed that with a degree in podiatry. He moved to the Raleigh, North Carolina area to begin his podiatry practice, eventually having three offices.

Jim is survived by his brother- Rich, sister – Mary, two sons – David and Ryan and a daughter -Kim.
