Frederick Bartron

Frederick Allan Bartron (Fred, Rick, Whitey) passed away on Thursday, December 24, with the quiet presence of family who loved him nearby, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.

Rick was born to Homer Henry Bartron and Helen Anna (Wagner) Bartron in Honesdale, PA on November 15, 1949, and graduated from Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA in 1968.

He is survived by his brothers Allan (and wife Jane), John and Glenn Bartron.

Rick had a love of travel (which he got from his mother), reading and adventure, finally settling in Mechanicsburg, PA. He was a gifted writer and conversationalist and enjoyed sharing his travels and adventures with others.

Rick engaged in a life-long pursuit of knowledge and understanding through his travels and reading. He particularly loved the sciences, nature and good food.

Rick enjoyed the simple things of life, like the open spaces of the American west, a simple meal over a camp fire, a good book and life-long friends.

Even when his travel days ceased, Rick continued to travel and wander the world through his reading and TV programs.

Rick had a soft and loving heart for his family, friends and those less fortunate.
