Donald Walter McCabe

Donald Walter McCabe passed away on May 11, 2021. Born in Philadelphia to the late Leo McCabe & Jeanette (Rupnik) McCabe Boutilier and late step-father: Robert Boutilier, whom along with Don’s mother was one of his greatest influences in his life.

He graduated from Milton Hershey School, Hershey, PA in 1962. Don married the love of his life on October 4, 1969, Waltraut Borck McCabe. He worked as an account and purchasing agent until 1968 when he joined the Army until being honorably discharged in 1971 as a specialist 5, serving in Okinawa for 2 ½ years. While serving his country he earned a sharpshooter medal, a national service medal and served as an accounting and requisition specialist. His military service was followed by 5 years of standby duty.

He then joined Kraft Foods, Fogelsville for 23 years until illness forced early retirement. During his earlier years he volunteered at Gracedale with his beloved German Shepard, Faust for 5 years and volunteered at Muhlenberg Hospital for 15 years in patient services. He loved golfing, (Donald was proud of his hole-in-one) bowling, pinochle, camping and Ocean City, MD.  Don loved animals and will be dearly missed by kitties: Feather and Frankie, plus all of Don’s prior beloved adopted pets. Don loved all kinds of music, concerts, plays and Broadway. Don was a member of Nazareth Moravian Church.
