Dalton “Jake” L. Williams

Dalton “Jake” L. Williams ’63, 80, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024. He was the husband of Suzanne Williams.

Dalton “Jake” Williams, 80, of Dover, Delaware passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 21, 1944, in Williamsport, PA, to Ruth C. and Thomas D. Williams, Jake was known for his warmth, humor, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones. He graduated from Milton Hershey School in 1963 and soon after enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served as a sharpshooter during the Vietnam War. His service to his country was a source of pride, and he was honorably discharged after completing his duty.

Upon returning to civilian life, Jake began working at Reynolds Aluminum, later joining the Wawa Corporation, before retiring from Standard Chlorine when the company closed. Known for his hard work and perseverance, Jake was a jack of all trades, able to fix anything and always willing to lend a hand to family and friends.

Jake was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and spending time in nature. He was happiest surrounded by his family and his beloved pets, often sitting in his chair with them on his lap. Whether teaching his grandchildren new skills or sharing stories from his life, he found joy in the simple pleasures of home. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, Poppop, uncle, whose legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Suzanne; daughters Amanda (Cory) Silveus and Jessica (Sam) Runkle; and his five grandchildren who were the light of his life: Luke, Rosalee, Rhys, Graham, and Norah. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Manning.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth C. and Thomas D. Williams; brothers Norman and Wayne Williams; and his best friend of over 50 years, Ed Maurer.

Jake’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his love and laughter will forever echo in the lives of those he touched.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 12 PM at Faries Funeral Home, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna, Delaware, where family and friends are invited to celebrate Jake’s life. A viewing will precede the service from 11 AM to 12 PM. Following the service, Jake will be laid to rest with military honors at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, Delaware.
